Welcome to The Canon (the “Service”), an interactive fiction detective game. By accessing or playing the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

The Canon is a work of interactive fiction. All characters, events, and content are fictional. Some responses are generated by AI language models and may be inaccurate, unexpected, or not reflect the views of the operators. The Service is provided for entertainment only.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Submit unlawful, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit content, or attempt to elicit such content from the AI.
Attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, scrape, or circumvent rate limits or other protections of the Service.
Use the Service to develop a competing product or to train other models.
Use the Service if you are under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your region).

We may suspend or terminate access that violates these terms or that we reasonably believe is abusive.

3. User content

Questions, notes, and theories you submit (“User Content”) remain yours, but you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to process and display them to operate the Service, including anonymized, aggregated community features. Do not submit personal or sensitive information in free-text fields.

4. AI-generated content

Parts of the experience are produced by third-party AI models. Output may be wrong or fictionalized by design. Nothing in the Service is professional advice of any kind.

5. Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

6. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
